About this work

The anthem "Out of the Deep" Op.9 was probably composed about 1902, when CBR was the newly-appointed Director of Music at St John's College, Cambridge. No doubt written for the Choir of St. John's College, the anthem sets verses from Psalm 130 for baritone solo, men's voices TTBB and organ.

The work is dedicated to Sir Walter Parratt, who was one of CBR's teachers at the Royal College of Music in 1900.
