
Daniel Wilberforce Rootham, father of the composer Cyril Rootham
Daniel Rootham was originally a lay clerk, singing at St John's College, Cambridge. After he moved to Bristol, he followed a
musical career as a lay clerk amd musical director of choral societies including the Bristol Madrigal Society.
Daniel Rootham was also well-known as a singing teacher, and his pupils included included Eva Turner and Clara Butt.
