Beaminster Singers formed after the cast of the 1987 Beaminster Community Play stayed together to sing. Since then, the choral society has become a feature of the town's musical life, giving two or three concerts a year in the town and surrounding villages.

Heavenly Harmonies - November 2013

Pop the date in your diary: our Spring Concert will be held in St Mary's Church, Beaminster on Saturday 16 May 2020 at 7.30 pm.

Our programme will feature Brahms A German Requiem and Mozart Regina Coeli. We look forward to seeing you there!


Recent performances
Our Autumn Concert on Saturday 30 November 2019 (in St Mary's Church, Beaminster) included Pergolesi Magnificat, Mozart Orgelsolomesse K 259, and Ronald Corp A Christmas Mass.

Our Spring Concert on Saturday 18 May 2019 in St Mary's Church, Beaminster featured an enduringly popular work: Haydn's The Creation, with full orchestra.

Our Autumn Concert on Saturday 24 November 2018 in St Mary's Church, Beaminster, marked the 100th anniversary of Hubert Parry's death with a performance of his Ode on St Cecilia's Day among other well known pieces. Alongside these, we sang Pachelbel's Magnificat and Mozart's 'Sparrow Mass' - his Mass in C Major, Spatzen Messa KV 220.

Our Spring Concert on Saturday 26 May 2018 in St Mary's Church, Beaminster featured Vivaldi's Gloria, J.C. Bach's Magnificat and Haydn's Missa in tempore belli ('Paukenmesse').

Earlier concerts have included Mozart's Requiem, Mendelssohn's As the Hart Pants, Haydn's Heilig Mass, Stanford's Songs of the Fleet and Kelly's Missa Brevis, Schubert's Magnificat, Vaughan Williams's In Windsor Forest and Hummel's delightful Mass in B.

We have performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Lighthouse, Poole with the Dorset Guild of Singers, as well as Gounod’s St Cecilia Mass, MacDowall’s Christus Natus Est, Bax’s Of a Rose I Sing, Alessandro Scarlatti’s Dixit Dominus and Mozart's Loreto Mass, Bach's Magnificat and St John Passion, Haydn's Creation, Brahms Requiem, Vaughan Williams’s Mass in G and Mozart’s Te Deum.

As well as our concerts, we also host occasional choral workshops and perform in local festivals, at fund raising concerts, dinners and ceremonial occasions. We are available for private bookings at weddings and memorial services, where we can advise on the choice of music and arrange soloists as well as singing hymns and anthems.
